Western Hills Garden Mission Statement
Gardens are important in connecting humans to nature. The Western Hills mission is to offer the opportunity to visit rare plants in a beautiful, natural setting.
To survive, the garden needs a sound financial footing. The current owners have made a significant commitment to the garden, but to ensure longevity, the garden needs community support. The membership program is one way to allow people who believe in the continued existence of Western Hills Garden to show their support.
We plan several “Walk and Talks” on our Saturday Open Days each year, featuring past popular topics (conifers, camellias, composting, and bees) plus some new surprises. We also plan at least one Sunday “member appreciation event,” like the wine and cheese event that featured speakers who discussed the garden’s past, present, and future and a tour of the garden led by horticultural notables. Members are invited to attend all these events for no extra fee.
Additionally, we offer our members: Either
1) four guest passes (single-use passes) that may be used as admission to our Open Days at the garden or
2) a “Partner Pass” that provides unlimited entry to the garden for you and your partner on all of our Open Days during the spring and summer.
Our 2019 Camellia Walk has been scheduled for Sunday, February 10. Don Bergamini, past president of the Camellia Society, will again be our tour leader. Many of the Camellias are already out — you can download a map of the Camellias at Western Hills (2-page, 463K pdf) in case you want to visit before February.
