Arbor Day Celebration at WHG: A Tree Lover’s Stroll
Description
Love trees? This one’s for you.
Arbor Day began as a call to plant, protect, and celebrate trees—for their beauty, ecological importance, and long-term role in shaping healthy landscapes. It’s a day to celebrate and notice the trees that hold our landscapes together.
Join us for a relaxed early evening at Western Hills Garden, easing into golden hour. Follow a self-guided tour that highlights standout specimens from the collection, including our graceful Japanese zelkova, the award-winning Eucalyptus rubida, and the rare Wollemi pines, often described as living fossils.
Along the route, garden staff and volunteers will be stationed at key points to share insights and stories, and kids can take part in a playful tree scavenger hunt.
We’ll also be joined by artist Scott Kildall, who will offer a brief demo and informal meet-and-greet connected to his Performing with Plants residency.
The stroll is paired with tastings featuring apple-based ciders from OZ Farm, inviting guests to savor the fruits of trees. Low-key, family-friendly, and for those who love canopy, structure, and provenance.
