We welcome your children ages 5-10 to join us at ClayFolk’s 1st Summer Clay Camp in collaboration with Western Hills Garden in Occidental, CA. The camp will take place in late July and will consist of a gentle daily rhythm of games, nature connection, art, and of course CLAY PLAY. We will work together with the group to complete at least 1 small clay project each week, in addition to small art and craft projects.
Camp will be led by Kaya Halpern, an experienced summer camp facilitator and educator, and Simone Strader, a local artist and ceramicist with experience working with children.
Camp will run from 8:45am drop-off, till 1:30pm pick up.
Aftercare is available as an add on option and will go from 1:30pm - 3:30pm
Parents are encouraged to spend time enjoying the wonders of Western Hills Garden at pick up.

Instructor Bios: Kaya Halpern grew up frolicking in the redwoods of Sonoma County where she fell in love with both exploring nature and having close access to delicious local food. After graduating from UC Berkeley, with a degree in Conservation and Resource Studies, she worked with kids doing habitat restoration and teaching watershed science at Point Blue Conservation Science, led Food & Farm Tours, and worked as a Naturalist on the outdoor education team at Walker Creek Ranch in West Marin. She currently works at Clayfolk, Fire Safe Marin, and Friends of Villa Grande.
Simone Strader graduated from the International Baccalaureate program at Berkeley High School in June 2024 and worked as a camp counselor for ceramics studio in Berkeley. She recently returned from a four month work-stay sojourn in Europe and is planning to head to college in the fall. She is a fine artist, knitter, ceramist, crafter, and lover of plants, people, and animals.
