When I Am Among the Trees

Join us for the opening reception of When I Am Among the Trees, a site-specific installation by artist Natalie Joy Tremblay.

Created using cyanotype textiles made with plant materials gathered from Western Hills Garden, the installation unfolds throughout the landscape as a series of large-format works that invite visitors to slow down, notice light and movement, and experience the garden in a new way.

Emerging as an extension of the living collection, each piece encourages reflection on the beauty of moments that cannot be held, only experienced.

Celebrate the opening with the artist, enjoy wine and light refreshments, and be among the first to experience this temporary exhibition at golden hour.

Visitors will receive a commemorative exhibition postcard and map to guide their exploration of the installation. All works will be for sale at the end of the three-day installation.

The reception is free and open to the public; registration is required.

Artist Bio: Natalie Joy Tremblay is a Sonoma County–based cyanotype artist whose work explores the relationship between plants, light, and place. Working with fresh flowers, foliage, and sunlight, she creates one-of-a-kind botanical artworks that celebrate seasonality, impermanence, and the quiet wonder of the natural world.

Inspired by the rhythms of the landscape, Natalie's practice embraces the unexpected, allowing light and chemistry to capture moments that can never be repeated. Her work invites viewers to slow down, reconnect with nature, and discover beauty in what is here, now, and ever-changing. She teaches cyanotype workshops throughout Sonoma County, including at Western Hills Garden, and her work has been exhibited in local galleries and collected by nature lovers across the country..
